You'd rather lose to someone great than beat someone easy. Respect is your currency: you give it slowly and you expect it back, and when you decide someone has earned yours you become their most loyal weapon. Rules and routines bore you; a worthy opponent wakes you up. You're Charizard, and the people who stuck with you through the difficult phase know exactly what that was worth.
Why Charizard: Pokedex (FRLG, SV): refuses to use its flames on anything weaker than itself and seeks out stronger foes; anime: Ash's Charizard ignores orders until it respects him; Mystery Dungeon: Brave.
